David Dadiomov, PharmD, BCPP, est professeur adjoint de pharmacie clinique au Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy de l'USC Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Il est titulaire d'une certification en pharmacie psychiatrique et dirige le programme de résidence en pharmacie psychiatrique PGY2. Il a dirigé, codirigé et mené des recherches approfondies sur les troubles liés à la consommation d'opioïdes parmi les populations vulnérables, la prévalence et la distribution de la consommation d'opioïdes sur ordonnance à haut risque, la surveillance des médicaments thérapeutiques, les conditions psychiatriques résistantes au traitement, etc. Le Dr Dadiomov exerce en tant que spécialiste en pharmacie clinique dans le domaine de la toxicomanie et de la psychiatrie à la Complex Care Clinic du Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, l'une des plus grandes cliniques de ce type aux États-Unis.

L'approche pédagogique du Dr Dadiomov est axée sur des cas concrets, pratique pour tout contexte clinique, interactive et fondée sur des données probantes. Son expertise a été partagée avec des cliniciens expérimentés, des étudiants diplômés et des étudiants de niveau avancé. Le Dr Dadiomov a reçu de nombreux prix pour son excellence clinique, son enseignement et son innovation clinique. Il a présenté, écrit et coécrit de nombreux articles de journaux évalués par des pairs, des chapitres de livres et des présentations scientifiques.

Objectifs

1. Discuss the proper role of mental health professionals who treat clients receiving both psychotherapeutic medications and psychotherapy.
2. Describe specific ethical issues and resolutions related to communicating with clients and prescribing professionals about psychotropic medications.
3. Explain the neurotransmitter systems and neuroanatomy underlying the biological basis for mental disorders and pharmacotherapy.
4. Identify the major classes of drugs used to treat mental disorders and which mental disorders are appropriately treated with each class of drugs.
5. Describe adverse effects and drug reactions of the commonly prescribed psychotropic medications and when to alert the prescriber about them.
6. Analyze the role that half-life plays in the efficacy of insomnia medications prescribed for clients and how it may affect behavioral interventions.
